Books on pregnancy

The Pregnancy Book: Month-by-Month, Everything You Need to Know From America's Baby Experts

Author: Martha Sears, William Sears & Linda Hughey Holt

Amazon Description: An excellent all-in-one guide to pregnancy. The approach is gentle, thorough, and includes more information than some month-by-month guides, which makes The Pregnancy Book an excellent choice for pregnant couples.

Pregnancy the Natural Way

Author: Zita West

Other Languages: Spanish

Amazon Description: An inspiring program to take you safely and naturally through each stage of pregnancy and birth and give your baby the best start in life. Ideal either as quick reference or as a complete guide.

Nutrition for a Healthy Pregnancy: The Complete Guide to Eating Before, During, and After Your Pregnancy

Author: Elizabeth Somer

CBI Review: It is important that doulas and antenatal teachers are well informed on the impact that diet can have on the health and wellbeing of the mother and baby during pregnancy, which is why we chose to have a book on this topic in the reading list. Unfortunately, this would not be our book of choice, but we were unable to find one that was more appropriate. It has some interesting information about the impact of diet. The downside of the book is that it is, at times, a bland read, and not always evidence based. If you are looking to understand nutrition and the different vitamins and minerals better, it would be a good addition to your library.

Having Twins And More: A Parent's Guide to Multiple Pregnancy, Birth, and Early Childhood

Author: Elizabeth Noble

Amazon Description: This comprehensive handbook emphasises optimal health as well as physical and emotional adjustments to bearing and raising multiples, and it offers striking new insights into risks, complications, and treatments -- candid information that is gathered only in this book.

Complete Book of Pregnancy and Childbirth

Author: Sheila Kitzinger

Other Languages: German Spanish

CBI Review: Sheila consistently produces books that are easy to read, focused on mother and baby centered care, and packed full of information. This book is no exception! Although Sheila is based in the UK her writing style appeals to women everywhere. The photographs throughout her book show positive images of women in labour, reinforcing the message that birth is normal.
