What
can Childbirth International offer you? |
With students and graduates in every USA state, you will be part
of a network of doulas who understand the unique issues facing
the women in your community. When you register for training, you
will be assigned to a group with a trainer who lives in your
region (in most cases) and will be able to make contact with
other doulas nearby. The Childbirth International study buddies
program enables you to connect and network with other birth
professionals and find support and mentorship.
All
Childbirth International programs are evidence-based - looking
at current birthing practices and helping you to understand what
the research tells us is safest for women and their babies. Your
student materials give you the opportunity to explore a range of
ideas and concepts, with online readings providing a variety of
different perspectives.
Unlike a weekend workshop doula training program, you will be
able to start your training immediately after registering, and
will be exposed to a wealth of information. Topics covered in
your course will include building relationships with caregivers,
helping women to achieve the births they wish for, and
establishing and building your business. Some
of our students have been practicing as doulas for more than 10
years and, even after taking previous doula training workshops,
are astounded by how much they learn on a Childbirth
International course!
We
feel it is important to have an understanding of cultural
differences when supporting women through pregnancy and birth.
Because of this, we spend time in the student manuals discussing
culture and its impact on pregnancy, birth
and parenting. Trainers will often provide a cultural
perspective when answering questions on the student email list.
Students from different parts of the world are encouraged to
share their experiences to enable everyone to learn from each
other and gain insight into how birth happens in different
places.
We tackle the tough topics. We discuss hard
to talk about topics like grief and loss. We explore how you can
handle it when a client does not pay, or a mother-in-law is not
being supportive of your client. We look at the stresses on you
and your family when you work as a birth professional and even
give you easy to follow steps on setting up and building your
business so you can increase the chance of finding clients and
stay on top of business finances and legalities. With Childbirth
International training you will not feel that a home study
program was "second best" - we sincerely believe this is the
best possible training you will find.
Trainers in the USA also offer study days where students can get
together and share ideas, explore problems and network face to
face.
